Huawei Technologies surges 15 percent in sales revenue

The Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. announced its financial performance for the first half of this year on Tuesday.


The sales revenue of the company amounted to RMB 325.7 billion in the first six months of this year, up by 15 percent year-on-year, while its operating margin reached 14 percent.


The consumer service business has become the second largest service area in the company, coming just after its telecom operator service. The consumer business section has earned RMB 237.2 billion for the first half of the year, up by 39.3 percent year-on-year.


It was said that Huawei had narrowed the gap with Apple Inc. regarding the sales volume of its mobile phones. Huawei sold 153 million phones last year, according to the data from HIS Inc. and Apple Inc. sold 215 million phones.


The domestic manufacturing volume of mobile phones has dramatically dropped. The figure declined by 17.8 percent to 196 million for the first six months this year. As a result mobile phone manufacturers have turned their attentions to foreign markets.


The sales volume of the Huawei Honor series has surged by 150 percent in the overseas market.


Huawei has explored the 5G commercial practices recently. “5G has become the engine for digital transformation in all industries. Huawei will cooperate with our partners to build an all-round connected world,” said Ding Yun, the executive director of Huawei.


The company has underlined its cloud services in its semi-annual report. It said the company was dedicated to providing reliable and sustainable cloud services by continuously innovating its cloud infrastructures and services.


In the AI sectors, Huawei has rolled out its deep-learning, image searching, and AI videos among other services.
