China’s leading telecom equipment and mobile phone maker Huawei clarified on Wednesday that its 5G services are operating in Germany as usual.
Media reports were saying that Huawei is being excluded from building up its 5G infrastructure in Germany on alleged national security grounds.
The company said it had been working with German telecom carriers on 5G construction while it was doing 5G testing in Japan. “New Zealand government disagreed with the proposed plans we had made, but our customers stand by us and continue negotiating with their governments to work it through,” said Huawei.
It underscored that the company maintained a leading role in the 5G technology and application sector despite the challenges and geopolitical impediments it faced recently.
Huawei has signed 25 commercial contracts around the world, including recent contracts with Portugal and Poland, and it inked deals with over 50 companies on 5G collaboration. Huawei’s market share remains at the top spot in the world.
The company is projected to launch its 5G microchip-embedded mobile phone into the market during the first half of 2019 and realize its mass production for the rest of next year.
“We are striving for the best in 5G areas for our customers,” said the company.
