The six-day China International Import Expo (CIIE) opened in Shanghai on Nov.5, drawing over 3,000 exhibitors from 130 countries and regions around the world.
This state-level exposition, the first of its kind in the world, features seven exhibition areas each dedicated to automobiles, services trade, consumer goods, high-end intelligent equipment, consumer electronics and appliances, medical equipment and healthcare products, and food and agricultural products. Among these products, over 5,000 make their debut in China.
Hundreds of thousands of Chinese purchasers, grouped into nearly 40 teams from across China, are present at the CIIE.
The team from Shanghai, the host city of the CIIE, has the intention to buy manufacturing equipment worth 10 billion yuan (1.45 billion U.S. dollars), according to a report by Xinhua News Agency on Oct. 4.
Beijing, the country's capital city, sends a team that focuses on high-end equipment, and high-end consumer goods and services, which are to be used to fuel this city's drive to upgrade its economy and consumption.
Ninety of China's centrally administered state-owned enterprises come to the CIIE with a long shopping list, including a possible three million to five million units of aircraft spare parts that may be worth 100 billion yuan (14.5 billion U.S. dollars), said the above report.
E-commerce activities will further prosper too. The CIIE offers an opportunity for cross-border e-commerce giants to promote global shopping.
One of them, Suning Holdings Group Co. Ltd., will take advantage of this exposition to import at least 1,000 types of goods and services not yet available at the Chinese market. In the next three years, this company will outlay 10 billion euros to make purchases abroad, according to the above report.
Various forums, ceremonies and other commercial activities also take place during this six-day exhibition.
