China stages the 124th China Import and Export Fair in its southern city of Guangzhou on Oct. 15 to advance its trade with the world.
This biannual event, also known as the Canton Fair held in spring and autumn of each year since 1957, is co-hosted by China’s Ministry of Commerce and the Guangdong Provincial government.
Since its first launch, China Import and Export Fair has remained a top platform for Chinese enterprises that seek to market their products globally. Starting from the 101st session in 2007, an international pavilion has been added for foreign manufacturers to introduce their products into the Chinese market.
Currently, countries along the Belt and Road Initiative account for over 30 percent of deals signed at this fair.
The ongoing 124th session will consist of three five-day phases dedicated to all sorts of products, covering daily consumer goods, electronic products and machinery, among others. For the next three weeks, a total of 25,000 exhibitors are expected to show up at this event, including 2,297 well-known brands.
Aside from the display of various commodities at the booths, more than 20 seminars will be held during this three-week period to share new ideas and discuss trends on international trade.
For the past 61 years, China Import and Export Fair has seen the signing of deals worth a total of 13.24 trillion U.S. dollars and the presence of over eight million purchasers from across the world.
