The Chinese internet giant, Baidu, showcased the latest achievements in its endeavors in the field of autonomous driving at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Asia 2018 being held in Shanghai from June 13 - 15, the Chinese Securities Journal reported on Wednesday.
The products on display were developed by the company on its Apollo open platform, a platform for the company's partners to develop their own autonomous driving systems, over the past year. All of the products have now been put into mass production, according to Baidu.
Zhang Yaqin, president of Baidu, noted that a complete matrix of intelligent driving products had taken shape in Baidu as the company has come out with a range of products in such areas as autonomous driving, internet of vehicles and car safety.
"Internet and automobiles are among the key industries that shore up the global economic development and social progress," said Zhang. "The merger of the two industries will create enormous opportunities for the world."
"We are very pleased to see that more and more Chinese enterprises have been at the forefront of this unprecedented industrial transformation," he added.
The products exhibited by Baidu include Apollo Pilot, Apollo Computing Unit, Intelligent Map and Valet Parking.
Apart from the product release, the company also established new partnerships with several domestic and foreign auto brands during the CES Asia, including such big names as BMW and Hyundai.
The company announced Wednesday that it would join hands with Hyundai to set up an auto platform targeting the global market as part of their cooperation in the autonomous driving area.
On Thursday, the company also signed an agreement with BMW on their cooperation in developing the next generation of human-automobile interaction.
