Wang Lei, the CEO of Eleme.com and vice president of Alibaba, noted on Monday that Eleme.com would invest over one billion yuan in perfecting its delivery system in the next two months.

"Leveraged by Alibaba's New Retail Strategy, Eleme.com will grow to be a New Retail-local community service platform," said Wang.

The food delivery platform will update its food delivery system to benefit its vendors and provide improved consumers' services by enhancing its instant delivery systems and giving customers' bonuses.

Wang said: "We will utilize the funds in boosting delivery drivers' wages and benefiting our vendors. Also, all these efforts will help our consumers eventually."

Each delivery driver's wage will rise by RMB 1,000 per month, according to the company.

Alibaba will integrate its resources with Eleme.com. Millions of Ali Pay consumers will be able to obtain discount cards for Eleme.com.

The delivery market has been proliferating recently.

Eleme.com's Fengniao delivery system has up to 3,000 delivery stations across the nation, and it will continue to exert influence into Alibaba's New Retail systems by launching its "instant delivery" service. For instance, it will provide instant medicine delivery shortly.

Eleme.com will not act on its own but will collaborate with Alibaba to expand its business, said Wang.

The collaboration between online and offline retail will provide a new business opportunity for the two companies.
